Pictures of Preggos at Diaper Party

Here are a few pictures Deanna sent me from the diaper party at Feeners on Sunday of all the preggos present.

Back in Time

I had my first appointment with the Obstetrician yesterday (Dr. Anderson). John and I both really liked her and the nurse. Everything went well, but the due date got changed again. I told her the ultrasound technician said I was a week further along than the family doctor said. Then somehow Dr. Anderson arrived at the date of May 6th. I am slightly inclined to think she just hauled it out of her ass. In any case, it's just an estimate - so no biggie. So the new estimate is that I am 17 weeks and 4 days along.

The baby's heart rate was 152 yesterday. The exact same rate as my appointment last month. There are some theories that a higher heart rate may indicate the baby is a girl. Here's a link that provides a little info: http://www.storknet.com/cubbies/pregnancy/exns15.htm.

As for myself, I have gained about 20 pounds, but am feeling great (apart from needing about 12 hours of sleep a night).

So, Dr. Anderson agreed that I would do shared care with my family doctor (Dr. Wong) til 30 weeks. I go to see Dr. Wong on December 22 and then again on January 27th. Then, I return to the care of the OBS on Feb 28. From that point on, I'll see her once every two weeks. It's amazing how many things there are to learn about this pregnancy bit. It's funny cause the nurse yesterday said not to stress too much. When she was pregnant and had her kids, there were only two milestones - you got pregnant, and then you had the kid.

We also go for a ultrasound next Thursday, December 8th. Which John and I are quite looking forward to. We'll find out the gender of the baby if we can. I'll update again after this appointment next week.

2 3/4 ounces

This is a belly shot from the end of week 14.

John took these these this morning (end of Week 16). Perhaps I should of took it before I ate my breakfast.

This is an ultrasound picture from week 12.

We had a pretty lazy weekend. I'm feeling pretty good these days. Although the fatigue continues. I also seem to be getting all these pregnancy hormones I have read about. John is trying to be patient, but it is difficult to console someone when they are crying for no apparent reason.

I am just finishing my 16th week. Apparently the crown-to-rump length of the baby is about 4 1/2 inches this week. And the weight is about 2 3/4 ounces. I think I may have felt the baby move a couple of times this week, but I couldn't say for 100% sure. It usually happens when I'm in the middle of doing something and then when I stop, I don't feel anything. I've heard it described as butterflies or flutters, but I'd say the best way to describe the feeling is as something, or someone very tiny doing a backflip in your belly.

I'm off to prenatal yoga with Lori. Should be entertaining. Yoga is usually funny enough without watching people try to figure out where to put their belly.

Beginning of Week 16

Hi everyone,

After seeing what a great idea Laura's blog (that's short for web log - for anyone wondering what the heck it means) was, we decided to start one to keep everyone up-to-date on baby's progress. My morning sickness has subsided and my real only symptom these days is extreme fatigue. I'm usually ready for bed by the time I eat supper. These days by the time I get home from work the only thing I want to do is sit on the couch and read or watch t.v. I think John is secretly enjoying my new reduced speed.

We received our first baby donation this weekend. Chris and Lisa (neighbours from a few doors over) gave us a swing. When we brought it into the house, it was kinda scary yet exciting. Definitely made reality sink in a little.

There's really not much else to report. I have my first appointment with the obstetrician on November 28th.

As soon as John teaches me how to post pictures, I'll post a few of my belly.
